The agent of former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg says that his client would love to return to the English Premier League.
The 34-year-old became a free agent after leaving Japanese side Shimizu S-Pulse and he is now looking for a new club.
The player’s agent claims that some English clubs have already shown interest in his client.
“There was interest but they were not the right English clubs. French and Scandinavian clubs also showed interest,” Walid Bouzid told Al Jazeera.
“He wants to play in a club battling for league titles, but he also wants his final project to give him a chance to give something back to society.
“Freddie is a competitor. Freddie still has at least a year and a half, if not two, that he wants to play.”
The Swede made a name for himself at Arsenal, where he spent nine very successful years following his arrival from Swedish side Hamstadt.
In the summer of 2007, Ljungberg left the Gunners for West Ham, but despite signing a four-year deal at Upton Park he only stayed there for one season.
The midfielder later had spells with Seattle Sounders, Chicago Fire, Celtic and Shimizu Pulse and is now a free agent.
The Mirror claims that Ljungberg is interested in a move to Premier League or a top Championship club, but League One side MK Dons are also keen.
