Athletic Bilbao’s Spanish international Fernando Llorente was released from hospital Monday, one day after suffering a blow to the head during a league match, the club said.
The 24-year-old striker briefly lost consciousness and was taken to hospital after clashing with Brazilian defender Nivaldo in the 11th minute of Athletic Bilbao’s 2-2 away draw to Real Valladolid on Sunday.
Medical exams carried out at the hospital ruled out “any type of complication” and the player was allowed to return home where he will rest for “two, three days,” the Basque club said in a statement posted on its web site.
