Germany coach Joachim Loew believes Mesut Oezil can deal with any potential jeers when they play Turkey in their Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday.
The 22-year-old, who is of Turkish descent, is no stranger to hostility as travelling supporters in last year’s match made themselves heard in Germany’s 3-0 win in Berlin.
The Real Madrid midfielder has already said he is well prepared to deal with criticism and Loew believes German can silence any Turkish clamour once again.
“We know what to expect in Turkey. Whenever they play against Germany the mood is heated and the whole country is behind their team,” Low said.
“Turkey are still in with a chance of making the championships (they can reach the play-offs) and so everyone will be behind them.”
“Oezil dealt well with all the whistles in the first game in Berlin and it will be the same in Turkey. It will be an emotional game for him.”
“However, someone who can play for Real Madrid six times against Barcelona will not be affected by jeers. Oezil has matured and has learned how to cope.”
With Germany already qualified for the tournament in Poland and Ukraine, Loew said he may switch to a 4-4-2 formation to capitalise on the good form from Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomez.
Klose has scored three goals in five Serie A matches for Lazio, while Gomez has struck eight times in seven Bundesliga fixtures for Bayern Munich.
“We may play with a 4-4-2 for the next two games with two strikers up front,” he said.
“We will not change much regarding the defence, but I hope to see some flexibility in midfield.”
Germany are 10 points clear of Turkey in Group A.
