(GSM) – Germany coach Joachim Loew has questioned the yellow card shown to Thomas Mueller against Argentina which will rule him out of the World Cup semi-finals with Spain.
The young German forward picked up his second yellow in as many matches, his first being against Ghana in the round of 16, after he was penalized by the referee for controlling the ball in the 35th minute.
And the decision has not gone down well with the Loew, who feels that Mueller did not control the ball with his hand and did not warrant such a harsh decision.
Loew said: “The fact that we won’t have Mueller in the semi final is a serious blow because over the last few matches he has shown how dangerous he is.
“I took a look at the yellow card and the ball basically touches his thigh and then touches his arm from a very short distance. There was no movement from the hand to the ball so I really question this yellow card.
“But in the past we have been able to replace players like Mueller and we will continue to do so going forward.”
