Germany manager Joachim Loew believes his side have room to improve despite the fact they defeated Kazakhstan 4-0 on Saturday.
Loew’s men won thanks to doubles from Miroslav Klose and Thomas Mueller, which saw them maintain their 100% record in Euro 2012 qualifying. But with Germany 3-0 up at the interval, Loew believes his side relaxed in the second half.”In the second half, we didn’t keep up the tempo from the first half and we played a bit too slowly,” Loew said.Despite the fade-out, Loew was pleased with his side’s performance in the first 45 minutes.”I think the first half was good. We scored three goals and had plenty of chances against a team that played very defensively.”Germany captain Philipp Lahm echoed the thoughts of his manager but thinks his side will qualify after they built an eight-point lead on Austria and Belgium at the top of Group A.”We did well in the first half, but we were not so good in the second, that was clear,” Lahm said.”We’ve still got some tricky games to come, but I’m fairly sure we will qualify.”Klose’s brace saw him score his 60th and 61st goals for his country, meaning he is just seven goals behind Gerd Mueller, who holds the goalscoring record for Germany.”We know they weren’t a great side although they were compact and defended pretty well,” Klose said.”I’m pleased with my goals at the beginning and the end of the game.”
