Loew set for Germany stay

Joachim Loew appears set to extend his contract as Germany manager, putting a move to Bayern Munich in doubt.

Loew led the national team to third place at the 2010 World Cup, winning fans for blooding the likes of Mesut Oezil and Thomas Mueller.

Bayern Munich are yet to announce a replacement for manager Louis van Gaal, who will leave the club at the end of the season after his side failed to mount a serious defence to their Bundesliga defence.

But despite rumours he was top of the candidate list, Loew looks unlikely to take the same path predecessor Juergen Klinnsman took from the national team to the Munich club.

“The possibility (of staying with Germany to 2014) is very high,” Loew told Bild.

“I think we want to avoid a situation like 2010 with the decision coming after the World Cup. We want to avoid that at the Euro 2012.”

Loew has been in the Germany job since 2006, and extended his contract to 2012 after the World Cup.
