Lokomotiv Moscow have announced on their official website that they have signed Portuguese midfielder Manuel Fernandes from Besiktas.
The former Portugal international has signed a long-term deal with the club after arriving on a free transfer.
It is believed the 28-year-old was brought to replace Lassana Diarra, who could be leaving Russia for greener pastures this summer.
Despite showing a great deal of potential during his early career, Fernandes hasn’t quite managed to live up to the billing, having failed to impress at the highest level.
Following an unsuccessful spell with Valencia, the midfielder has spent last three years at Besiktas, making 77 Super Lig appearances and scoring 14 goals in total.
Fernandes has scored 2 goals in 9 Portugal caps, but he wasn’t even considered by Seleccao boss Paulo Bento for his World Cup squad.
Portugal kick off their campaign in Brazil by facing Germany, with the Seleccao priced at 14/5 to emerge victorious.
