Sevilla have got a new head coach. After departure of Pablo Machin and Joaquin Caparros, the club from Andalusia has decided on a man that is expected to return them to Champions League – Julen Lopetegui.
Sevilla have announced they have appointed the 52-year-old Spaniard as manager on a three-year contract. Lopetegui will be getting a new start, after a disastrous 2018. Just two days before the start of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, he was sacked from the position of Spain’s national team coach, as it was announced he was taking a deal with Real Madrid during Spain’s preparations for the tournament.
After his appointment at Real Madrid, his team has done poorly that he was sacked just five months later and he will hope not to repeat such a nightmarish year. Having previously enjoyed success at Porto, he will be looking to improve on Sevilla’s sixth-place finish in La Liga in 2018-19.
