Catania striker Maxi Lopez is keen on a move to AC Milan, saying he wants to help Zlatan Ibrahimovic lift the Champions League trophy.

The Argentine striker is believed to top Milan’s wish list for the January transfer window as they search for a replacement for Antonio Cassano, who is recovering from heart surgery.

Earlier in the month, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani fuelled speculation by admitting Lopez would thrive at San Siro.

The 27-year-old said he was flattered by Galliani’s remarks and revealed he would relish partnering Ibrahimovic in attack.

“(Diego) Milito and (Diego) Forlan often talk to me about the city of Milan,” Lopez told Corriere dello Sport. “The Rossoneri are in the top four and Galliani’s words made me rejoice.”

“I admire Ibrahimovic, he is the greatest. I want to help him win the Champions League.”

Catania chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco revealed on Wednesday that the club would not stand in the way of Lopez’s transfer to the Serie A champions.
