Catania are “90 per cent sure” that striker Maxi Lopez will leave the club in the January transfer window.
The Sicilians’ sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco confirmed the strong rumours in an interview with an Italian radio station on Tuesday.
The Argentine striker is continually being linked with a move to AC Milan, while several other clubs are interested in signing the former Barcelona attacker as well, and Lo Monaco expects Lopez to move on in January.
“I’m 90 per cent sure he will leave,” Lo Monaco said to Radio Rai.
“There is a general agreement in place with Milan, but we also have other offers. Giving a player to Milan would make us proud.”
“They have asked us for more time and two weeks have passed since we agreed terms.”
“As a small side, we must consider everything that happens.”
Milan view the 27-year-old Lopez as the perfect alternative to Carlos Tevez should they fail to lure the Manchester City striker to San Siro.
