Competition: MLS
Market: Los Angeles win
Odds: 5/4 @ 888sport
Looking to make it three MLS wins on the bounce in midweek, Los Angeles will make the trip to a struggling Austin in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Starting with the hosts, while Austin might have managed to land a much-needed boost against Portland last month, the MLS’ latest franchise have really come crashing back down to earth. Still sat rock-bottom of the Western Conference and tipped as a landslide pick to lift the wooden spoon this season, Head Coach Josh Wolff finds his side in the midst of a real nightmare. Last seen over the weekend when putting in another woeful display, the Green and Blacks were hit with a 3-0 drumming away at Houston. Now losing each of their last three matchups on the spin and managing to muster just three points from their last seven contests, Wolff will have a real headache over his side’s glaring issues at the back. Including signing off August with an action-packed 5-3 defeat at home against Dallas, Thursday’s hosts have shipped 10 goals on their three-match losing run.
As for the visitors, while Los Angeles might have signed off August in the midst of their own struggle, the Whites do find themselves enjoying what has been a recent boost. With their sights now firmly set on clinching a Final Series spot this season, Head Coach Bob Bradley saw his side put on another all-action affair over the weekend. Eventually landing a 3-2 victory against Real Salt Lake on home soil, the former USA boss has seen his side muster seven points from their last three MLS contests. Managing to find a way to build off of their thumping 4-0 win against Sporting KC on September 4th, LAFC should also be boosted by their most recent meeting against Thursday’s hosts. When the two sides last faced off back in July, Bradley’s men collected a deserved 2-0 victory in Austin. Given the recent gulf in class, we’re backing an away win at attractive odds here.
