With the Western title all but confirmed for this season, a high-flying LAFC will welcome San Jose to the Banc of California Stadium in the early hours of Thursday.

Starting with the hosts, putting in yet another dominant display in their routine 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake over the weekend, it is no surprise that Los Angeles FC are an overwhelming favorite to clinch the MLS outright this year. Already holding a stunning 16-point buffer at the top of the Western Conference and enjoying a four-match winning run, former USA coach Bob Bradley has seen his side continue to shine in the final third. Led by leading goalscorer Carlos Vela who has already bagged 24 goals in his 25 MLS outings, no team in either the West or the East holds a better attacking tally than LAFC.

As for the visitors, while Los Angeles might be enjoying an impressive run of form, the same cannot be said for a stalling San Jose outfit. Coming off the back of back-to-back defeats against Colorado and Sporting KC, Matías Almeyda’s men have failed to win any of their last three contests and are on the verge of losing their play-off status in the West. It is also worth noting that the Earthquakes hold a very worrying record against their hosts on Thursday. Suffering a 3-1 defeat when the two sides met back in June, San Jose have lost each of their previous four meetings against LAFC, shipping 14 goals on that losing run.
