Lazio president Claudio Lotito believes defender Modibo Diakite has already agreed to join Inter when his contract expires next summer.
The talented defender has entered the final year of his deal at Olimpico and he has refused a new contract offer.
Diakite rejected a bid from Fiorentina in the summer transfer window, but his agent confirmed that the Frenchman would consider a proposal from one of Italy’s top clubs.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito claims that the 25-year-old already has an agreement in place with Inter.
“Diakite? Lazio offered him a contract renewal and he refused, I hope that he has not signed with a club from the North that we have already identified,” Lotito Italian radio service Rai GR Parlamento.
“Whether it is a club from Milan or Turin? It is a club from Milan and it is not AC Milan. Lazio will not allow anyone to violate the rules.”
Diakite and his representative will be free to speak to interested clubs about a free transfer in the New Year, but any talks prior to that would have to go through Lazio.
The Frenchman, who has spent last six seasons at Olimpico, has been frozen out of the squad following the contract dispute and has failed to make a since appearance for the first team this season.
