Louis Saha believes that Edinson Cavani would be a good signing for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The former United striker believes that the Red Devils are “missing a trick” by not making a move for Cavani.
The Uruguay international striker is a free agent at the moment following his departure from French giants Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.
The Daily Star quotes Cavani as saying: “I think Manchester United are missing a trick by not signing Edinson Cavani this summer. I’ve followed him for many years and I’m gutted there doesn’t seem to be an interest there.
“For me, Cavani would be the best fit this summer. Cavani has a great eye for goal and his leadership would be a great asset. He has qualities that are very difficult to find on the transfer market.”
Should Manchester United make a move?
United do have a very good and potent attacking unit, with Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial all having done well this past season.
Rashford, Greenwood and Martial all are young player who are scoring goals, and one can understand why manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would not want to sign a new striker.
However, Cavani is a world-class striker, and the former Napoli star would good a great job in the short term.
With United – who are rated at 5/2 favourites by Betfair to sign England international striker Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window – aiming to challenge for the Premier League title next season and also playing in the Champions League in 2020-21, Cavani would make the Red Devils stronger and bring a winning mentality to the squad.
