Lovech returned to winning ways and extended their lead in the Bulgarian A-League to eight points with a 1-0 win over Slavia Sofia.

In what was expected to be a comfortable win from Lyuboslav Penev’s team, they took 59 minutes and had to rely on a scrambled own goal from Nigerian defender Victor Deniran to claim three points in Sofia on Friday.

The win put them eight points clear of second-placed Levski Sofia, who inflicted on them their first defeat of the season on Sunday.

Slavia Sofia are winless in their last six league outings and sit in ninth, 12 points clear of the relegation zone.
