Newcastle striker Peter Lovenkrands has confirmed he is searching for a move away from the club.
The former Rangers man was a regular in the Magpies’ promotion season of 2009/10, but has found first-team opportunities harder to come by in the Premier League, with Demba Ba and Leon Best forming a formidable partnership.
With Alan Padrew having other options to call upon, the 31-year-old has decided he must leave St James’ Park to try and find more regular football.
“I’ve talked to the coach and he would like to extend my contract, but I cannot wait for that,” Lovenkrands told TV.dk:
“In January, I can talk to whoever I want, so my agent is working to find me another club.”
Lovenkrands said he would not be revealing his preferred destination.
“There are lots of things I’d like, but I’m keeping my cards close to my chest,” he said.
“There have been talks with the club about an extension, but it’s not something that happens before January or next summer, so right now we’re looking for other options.”
