Lovren left out of Liverpool UEFA Super Cup squad amid exit reports

Liverpool have released the list of 23 players who are in contention to play in the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea on Wednesday.

The names of Andy Lonergan, who joins the club on a short-term deal following the injury of Alisson Becker, Caoimhin Kelleher who has finally recovered from a broken wrist, and Harvey Elliot, Liverpool’s 16-year-old summer signing, are all there, but Dejan Lovren is missing.

The Croatian international centre-back has been linked to a move to Serie A, with the Merseysiders in talks with AS Roma according to Paul Joyce of The Times, while other reports mention AC Milan as another interested side.

Apparently, Lovren recognizes that he would be the fourth choice for a place in the team behind Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip. Liverpool are asking for £15 million for his services, and a move may well happen before the transfer window in Italy closes.
