According to multiple sources, the talks regarding a potential move of Dejan Lovren from Liverpool to AS Roma have been called off.
Having fallen down the pecking order behind Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, the Croatian centre-back has been the subject of interest from both AC Milan and Roma. While Milan haven’t made actual contact with Liverpool at all, Roma had and the two clubs have held talks. Liverpool reportedly wanted £15 million and the Serie A side suggested they would pay even more than that.
However, Roma failed to table an actual bid but tried to work out a loan deal with a very small fee involved, which was something that Liverpool were not interested in. They have now ended the talks.
Lovren was left out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup clash with Chelsea on Wednesday which his teammates went on to win on penalties, but it seems he will be at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal at least for the rest of the year.
