Spartak Moscow are reportedly set to offload Paraguayan striker Lucas Barrios at the end of the season, Izvestia has revealed.
The 29-year-old joined the club last summer from Guangzhou Evergrande as a replacement for Emmanuel Emenike, but he has utterly failed to prove his worth in Moscow.
Barrios went on to make 16 competitive appearances for the club, scoring just one goal in the process, and it appears his stint in Russia is coming to an end.
With the striker reportedly earning in excess of €3 million per campaign, Spartak Moscow officials hope to cash in on the player in the summer transfer window.
Barrios’ career started taking a wrong turn when he decided to leave Borussia Dortmund for Guangzhou Evergrande and he has never been able to rediscover his scoring form.
Having finally returned to winning ways, Spartak Moscow will be hoping to revive their Champions League bid by defeating Rubin Kazan, and they are 11/8 to succeed in that quest.
