Everton left-back Lucas Digne does not fancy a move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window, according to 90min. It has been reported that Newcastle are keen on bringing Digne to St. James’ Park this month and have made an approach to Everton for the left-back.
Rafael Benitez’s Everton themselves are open to selling Digne, but the player himself is not convinced by a move to Newcastle. The former Barcelona left-back wants to leave, but favours a move to defending European champions Chelsea. West Ham United and Leicester City are also keen on the 28-year-old as well.
Newcastle are in the Premier League bottom three at the moment and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. It is not hard to understand why Digne would prefer a move to Chelsea to a transfer to Newcastle, especially if the transfer is to be a permanent one.
