Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva has suggested that he is ready to leave Liverpool, while welcoming the interest from Napoli.
The 27-year-old is no longer in the first team plans of manager Brendan Rodgers, having made just three league appearances so far this season.
And it appears that his patience is slowly running out, with Lucas revealing that he was ready to quit Anfield in search of first team football.
“I am not talking to anyone right now because I have a contract. But, since I am not playing, I’ll have to look around because I want to play,” the Brazilian told Radio Marca.
“Last summer there was also talk of Napoli, but nothing that was satisfying for all the parties. It is true: Benitez has always shown great confidence in me.”
The Serie A giants are being linked with a fresh assault on Lucas Leiva and the latest reports are enough to suggest there is truth in those rumours.
The experienced midfielder has another three years left on his deal at Anfield, but it appears he could be leaving in the January transfer window.
Lucas Leiva has spent last seven years at Liverpool having joined from Gremio back in 2007, featuring in 179 Premier League matches and scoring 1 goal.
