Lucho’s agent hints at Milan deal; Barca star cools off Tottenham link

Lucho’s agent hints at Milan deal

Marseille midfielder Lucho Gonzalez could sign for Milan this summer, his agent has revealed.

The Argentine playmaker has expressed his desire to leave Marseille this summer, but he has yet to receive any concrete offers.

Even though he is keen on leaving Velodrome, the player has started pre-season training and had a role to play in OM’s impressive Trophee des Champions win over Lille.

However, his agent believes that Lucho could still leave Marseille before the transfer window closes.

Federico Simonian has even hinted that the Argentine could sign for Milan.

“We work hard to make the transfer happen with the clubs,” Simonian told RMC.

“I do not think that Lucho will sign for AC Milan, but it remains a possibility.

”We are in contact with some Italian clubs, English and Spanish. We will know more by Monday or Tuesday.”

The Rossoneri are still searching for the Mister X, or a left-sided midfielder and Lucho Gonzalez do fits that profile.

Barca star cools off Tottenham link

Dutch midfielder Ibrahim Afellay has rejected speculations linking him with a move away from Camp Nou.

The Netherlands international only signed for Barca last winter, but after it became evident that he won’t be able to break into the first team squad, the speculations started.

The 25-year-old has recently been linked to Tottenham, and he says he is aware of the interest.

“Look, if there is anything that is clear it’s that rumours are part of football and we must learn to live with them, but now I’m just focused on Barcelona,” Afellay told AS.

“I’m aware (of the reports) because I read the information arriving from England. People call you and say they have seen such a thing.”

However, Affelay is adamant he is happy at Barcelona.

“It’s perfect. I feel happy. On a sporting level, I hope to express my potential.

“(Playing more) is my intention, of course. I want to play as much as possible.”

The Dutch midfielder has four and a half years left on his contract at Barcelona, but it is perfectly clear that he will leave Camp Nou much sooner.

Bolton sign Burnley duo

Bolton have completed the signing of Burnley duo Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears, the Lancashire club have revealed on their official website.

Both players have penned three-year deals with the Reebok outfit, and this is the second time Owen Coyle has signed the two players, having had previously brought them to Burnley.

“I have worked with them both before and know what they will bring to the club in terms of character and commitment and along with Nigel Reo Coker, we have added real quality to the squad,” Owen Coyle told club’s official website.

Right-back Mears was instrumental in Burnley’s promising Championship campaign last term, making 44 appearances for the Clarets.

“I’m really looking forward to working with a manager I’ve worked with before and playing in the Premier League. From the outside looking in, this has seemed like it is a club going in the right direction,” Mears was quoted as saying.

Chris Eagles, who came through famous Manchester United academy, proved his potential by scoring 15 goals for Burnley last season and he is now ready for a new challenge.

“I know a few of the lads already, like the skipper (Kevin Davies) and Stuart (Holden). I know that it is a good squad so the challenge for me will be to work hard and then look to contribute.

“I am an attacking midfielder and I will certainly be looking to chip in with some goals.”
