Marseille midfielder Lucho Gonzalez has revealed that he was close to leaving Velodrome this summer.
The Argentine playmaker says there were several clubs interested in his services, but no agreement was reached.
“I actually wanted to leave Marseille. Various clubs were interested but we were unable to reach an agreement,’ Lucho told L’Equipe.
“The reality of the market is that not many clubs are able to pay €10million.
“But I made a commitment that if I left, it was necessary for Marseille to benefit.
“That was not the case and the chapter is closed. Today I am happy to be here.”
