Luis Enrique targets long-term Roma stay

Roma boss Luis Enrique claims he is not worried about the speculation regarding his future at Olimpico.

The Spaniard has come under heavy pressure following Roma’s defeat to arch rivals Lazio that left the Giallorossi well clear of the Champions League places.

However, the young coach is adamant he doesn’t plan to leave Olimpico any time soon.

“You’ll have to cope with me for another four or five years – minimum,” Luis Enrique told reporters before the Palermo clash.

“Obviously you never know what may happen in football, but if it was just up to me then I’d stay here for another five years.

“Has the project failed? When I came here I knew that it would be difficult, but I am giving my all and working hard. I won’t give up.”

Roma are going through a very rough patch at the moment, having lost five of their last nine games in all competitions.

The Giallorossi currently sit ten points behind third-placed Lazio as they prepare for the tricky away game at Renzo Barbera.

Luis Enrique is aware that his side are in for a very difficult task against one of the best home sides in Serie A.

“Psychologically it has been a difficult week because my players have had to come to terms with a demoralizing defeat.

“That’s another reason why tomorrow’s match in Sicily will be tough.”

The match between Palermo and Roma is scheduled for Saturday night at Stadio Renzo Barbera.
