Former Barcelona B coach Luis Enrique has agreed to take over at Atletico Madrid after this season ends, according to Marca.
The club chiefs are not satisfied with Quique Sanchez-Flores’ work at Vicente Calderon and they have been searching for his replacement ever since los Colchoneros were eliminated from the Europa League.
The Atletico officials have considered several coaches for the position, including Sevilla boss Gregorio Manzano, but have ultimately opted for promising Luis Enrique.
The Barcelona legend had already announced that he would leave Barcelona B at the end of the season to take over a La Liga side, and his agreement with Atletico Madrid is expected to be announced later today.
The promising coach who also attracted interest from Sevilla, Valencia and Getafe was the preferred choice of Atletico chief Miguel Angel Gil Marin and general manager Jesus Garcia Pitarch.
Quique Sanchez-Flores will be allowed to finish the season at Vicente Calderon, with Luis Enrique expected to take over the reigns on 1st July.
