Tottenham’s bid to sign Luis Fabiano has failed after the Brazil striker signed a new deal with Sevilla on Monday, tying him to the Spanish club until 2013.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp confirmed last Friday that contact had been made with Sevilla over the player but the Premier League club was discouraged by the 25 million pounds (30.4 million euros) asking price.
Redknapp believes that fee is too high for a 29-year-old who will be out of contract and therefore available on a free transfer at the end of this season.
News of Fabiano’s decision to stay in Spain was confirmed by Sevilla, the side he joined from FC Porto in 2005.
