Sampdoria are set to complete the signing of Colombian forward Luis Muriel from Udinese as the player is currently undergoing a medical in Genoa.
The two clubs have reportedly agreed on a €12 million fee, with the deal expected to be completed by the end of the day.
Muriel arrives at Marassi as a replacement for Manolo Gabbiadini, who was recently sold to Napoli.
Speaking ahead of the medical in Genoa, the forward admitted he was excited by the prospect of joining the Blucerchiati.
“I’m glad to be here, now for the fun part,” Muriel told reporters in front of the Clinica Montallegro.
“Mihajlovic? I’ve talked to him, he’s wanted me for a long time and I’m glad to be here. Samp are what I need now, a team that can fight for important goals, a team with a great history that can help me to do well.
“The Champions League? This Sampdoria can dream of anything…”
Luis Muriel, 23, has shown a great deal of promise at the start of his career in Italian Serie A, but has largely struggled to prove his worth over the last year or so.
A move to Sampdoria gives him a chance to try and kick-start his career and prove why he is widely regarded as one of league’s hottest prospects.
