Brazilian defender Luisao plans to end his playing days at Estadio da Luz, the player’s official representative has revealed.
In spite of the heavy competition for starting places, the 32-year-old remains a first team regular in Jorge Jesus’ side and no wonder he is not thinking about leaving the club.
What is more, Luisao is hoping to finish his playing career at Benfica, where he has spent last 11 years.
“The future belongs to God, one day we can say one thing and another can happen, but everything indicates that Luisao will finish his career at Benfica,” agent Giuliano Bertolucci explained to Antena 1.
Luisao’s official representative also stated that his client had had more lucrative offers in the past, but he rejected them in favour of staying at Estadio da Luz.
The former Brazil international arrived at Benfica from Cruzeiro in 2003, and has since made 224 league appearances for the Eagles, scoring 20 goals.
Luisao has so far earned 43 Brazil caps and took part at 2006 and 2010 World Cups with the Seleccao, albeit failing to make a single appearance at the two tournaments.
