Luiz edging closer to PSG move

French champions Paris Saint Germain are closing in on a deal to sign David Luiz from Chelsea, according to Sky Sports.

The Brazil international, who is part of Luiz Felipe Scolari’s squad for this summer’s World Cup finals, has been constantly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge since Jose Mourinho returned as Blues manager.

He made just fifteen starts in the Premier League in the 2013/14 campaign, and now looks set to secure big money transfer in the close season, with PSG leading the race to secure his services.

Laurent Blanc is keen to add to his squad, despite the French club being fined earlier this month for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

Should the transfer go through, Luiz would become the most expensive defender in the world with Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand still the holder of that accolade following his move to Old Trafford from Leeds United in 2002.
