Luke Shaw nears Chelsea switch

Sunday People understands that Chelsea are in pole position to land  Southampton full-back Luke Shaw.

The Blues see the youngster as an ideal long-term replacement for Ashley Cole, and they are expected to test the Saints’ resolve with a January bid.

And while the player himself is interested in joining Chelsea, he will only move to Stamford Bridge is he is guaranteed first team football.

With other England’s top clubs keeping close tabs on Shaw, the youngster wants to ensure he makes the right choice, although a move to Stamford Bridge would probably give him the best chance of regular playing time.

Given that Ashley Cole is no longer in Jose Mourinho’s first team plans and Cesar Azpilicueta has not really impressed in left-back position, chances are Shaw would have no problems nailing down a regular starting berth.

Despite his fragile age, the 18-year-old has already featured in 39 Premier League fixtures, although he has yet to register his first goal.

So he’s ‘nearing a switch’ in the loosest possible sense then….? As no fee has been discussed, submitted or accepted and all this article has to go on is it ‘believes’ he prefers Chelsea when the any physical proof of anything is his interviews in which he’s said he doesn’t want to go anywhere?
