Competition: World Cup qualifier
Market: Lyndon Dykes to score anytime
Odds: 7/5 @ 888sport
Desperate to build off of their stunning late flurry over the weekend, Scotland will make the trip out to the Faroe Islands on Tuesday night smelling another golden chance.
Starting with the hosts, while the Faroe Islands might have managed to sign off last month’s run with a 2-1 victory against Moldova, it appears that was just a minor boost for the European strugglers. Last seen over the weekend when getting hit with what was a routine 2-0 defeat at the hands of Austria on home soil, Håkan Ericson’s men are simply in a battle to avoid lifting the wooden spoon. Battling it out at the foot of Group F and knowing that they face a stern test on home soil this week, the Whites have lost four of their last five qualifying contests. With that run highlighted by a dreadful 4-0 drumming against Israel on home soil last month, it’s also worth highlighting that the Faroe Islands were also hit for four the last time they faced off against Tuesday’s guests.
As for the visitors, while Scotland might have left it late over the weekend, they did manage to land what could turn out to be a crucial victory. Eventually grabbing a last-gasp winner against Israel on home soil, the mood in the Tartan Army’s camp should be at a red-hot high in midweek. Opening up Tuesday’s contest holding a commanding four-point buffer in that lucrative second spot, Head Coach Steve Clarke could be calling on Lyndon Dykes to spearhead their charge on the road. Despite missing a penalty at Hampden on Saturday, the QPR striker did manage to extend on his eye-catching international scoring patch. In fact, he has now found net in each of his last three straight appearances for Scotland. Landing a 4-0 romp the last time they faced off against Tuesday’s hosts, Dykes should be smelling a real chance here.
Bet: Lyndon Dykes 7/5 to score anytime against the Faroe Islands in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier @ 888sport
