Lyon and Marseille battle for Patrice Evra

France Football is reporting that Ligue 1 sides Lyon and Marseille are locked in the battle for Juventus defender Patrice Evra.

The veteran full-back appears to have decided to leave the Bianconeri in the January transfer window and head coach Max Allegri recently confirmed the 35-year-old was on the way out.

Crystal Palace and Valencia are some of the sides that have already shown interest in Evra, but a return to French Ligue 1 is also a possibility.

Namely, both Lyon and Marseille would jump at the opportunity to recruit the high-profile left-back, with les Gones reportedly leading the chase at the moment.

The good news is that Evra will be available for a nominal fee considering that his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.

High-flying Lyon play host to struggling Lille next weekend and they can be backed at 1/2 to claim maximum points.
