After it seemed Tottenham was leading the race to land Pape Cheikh Diop, it seems as if Olympique de Lyon has thrown their hat in the ring, as both vie for his services.
Cheikh Diop’s current team, Celta de Vigo, has his release clause set at €30 million, but are willing to transfer him out for €10 million.
A report from AS said that although Spurs have a lock on the young 20-year-old midfielder, Cheikh Diop’s agent has traveled from London to France to meet with the Ligue 1 side.
The Senegalese-Spanish player was brought up through Celta’s youth system and cracked the Celta B squad, which plays in the Spanish third division.
In 2015, Cheikh Diop made the Celta senior team and has made 27 appearances with the Célticos and has shown promise at the center midfield position for the Spanish side.
Now as Spurs and Lyon are battling for the young Spanish international’s signature, it will be interesting to see whom Cheikh Diop chooses.
