Lyon close in on new midfielder

Lyon are on the verge of signing Lorient midfielder Arnold Mvuemba, according to L’Equipe.

Les Gones were looking to sign a new midfield player after Yoann Gourcuff picked up a serious injury at the start of the season and it appears the search is finally over.

L’Equipe reports that Lorient star Arnold Mvuemba has already passed a medical at Gerland and is set to sign for the club later today.

Lyon youngster Enzo Reale will move in the opposite direction as part of the agreement.

The two clubs have yet to agree on the compensation that les Gones need to pay in order to close the deal, but the agreement appears to be on the horizon.

Arnold Mvuemba, who came through the famous Rennes youth academy, has kick-started his career at Lorient following a very unsuccessful spell in English Premier League.

Since joining les Merlus from Portsmouth, the midfielder has made 109 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring 9 goals in the process.
