Marseille defender Jeremy Morel is nearing a summer switch to Lyon, French daily newspaper L’Equipe can reveal.
The left-back, who has mostly been used as a central defender under Marcelo Bielsa, will be out of contract in June and it appears he has decided to leave Stade Velodrome.
According to L’Equipe, the 31-year-old has all but agreed a three-year deal with Olympique Lyon.
With Henri Bedimo expected to leave les Gones in the summer transfer window, Morel will have a great chance to nail down a regular starting berth at Stade Gerland.
The experienced defender joined Marseille from Lorient four years ago and has since featured in 130 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 2 goals in total.
Morel had an important role to play in the back line under Marcelo Bielsa, but even though the Argentine coach wanted him to stay, the full-back ultimately decided to accept an offer from Lyon.
