Lyon head coach Bruno Genesio has moved to confirm that AS Roma forward Juan Manuel Iturbe is on club’s radar.
Les Gones will soon see Nicolas N’Koulou and Rachid Ghezzal leave for Africa Cup of Nations duty, and while they have enough options at the back, the club will be looking to compensate for the temporary absence of the Algeria international.
Asked whether AS Roma winger Juan Manuel Iturbe fits the profile of the player he wants to sign, Lyon boss Bruno Genesio replied:
“Yes, he can correspond (to the profile). Is it a problem that he has already played in Europa League this season? Yes and no,” Genesio said at today’s press conference.
Juan Manuel Iturbe is almost certain to leave AS Roma in the January transfer window, having failed to prove his worth at Stadio Olimpico.
Since returning from a disappointing loan spell at AFC Bournemouth, the Paraguayan has only made four substitute appearances for the Giallorossi in Serie A.
The 23-year-old still has plenty of time to get his career back on track, and Lyon officials seem to believe they can help him do that.
