Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has categorically denied reports linking his club with a summer move for Italian striker Mario Balotelli.
Les Gones were heavily criticised by Le Parisien for the supposed failure to recruit the Italy international, but the club president has made it clear there was no truth in those rumours.
“On Balotelli? OL have repeatedly denied this information as Le Parisien strives to highlight in the article, as if to have fun!,” Aulas told club’s official website.
Mario Balotelli ended up signing for Nice on a free transfer from Liverpool and he impressed on his debut to score two goals in a 3-2 triumph over Marseille.
However, Lyon clearly had no intention of making a move for the controversial forward as they kept hold of star striker Alexandre Lacazette, which proved to be an excellent decision.
The 25-year-old has already scored 6 goals in first 4 Ligue 1 fixtures, and les Gones could face a struggle to ward off interested sides in the January transfer window.
