French Ligue 1 hotshots Lyon have reportedly set their sights on Mainz defender Abdou Diallo.
L’Equipe understands Lyon have joined the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Arsenal who have all expressed interest in signing the 22-year-old central defender.
Diallo’s representatives are said to have been in constant contact with interested parties. Borussia Dortmund are claimed to have already agreed personal terms with the player over a long-term deal but Lyon are hoping to step in and steal the French youth international.
The Ligue 1 outfit are prepared to offer Diallo a starting berth at a Champions League club and a chance to return to his homeland, which is said to be a huge pull factor for the player.
It is being reported that Lyon have intensified contacts with the player and his representatives this week. Lyon manager Bruno Genesio is believed to be a keen admirer of Abdou Diallo’s talents, most of all his maturity despite tender age.
Lyon are expected to table an official bid this week, believed to be in excess of over €20 million.
