Lyon president rules out Gourcuff exit

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is adamant that star midfielder Yoann Gourcuff will not be leaving Gerland.

The French international failed to live up to the expectations following the big money move from Bordeaux, leading the speculations that he could be sold in January.

However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas now denies such a possibility.

“Gourcuff is a good player. We may have overpaid him a little bit at a wrong time. But he was mostly injured,” Aulas told Radio Monte Carlo.

“You’ll see in June, in Ukraine, he will rejoin France squad and will rediscover his form.

”Contrary to what I read, he will not leave in the winter transfer window.”
