Lyon coach Claude Puel has declared his side’s Champions League exit ancient history as he looks ahead to picking up precious points against Auxerre on Sunday.
“We’ve moved on. We haven’t forgotten – you don’t forget that kind of thing. But we will fall back on what has been done, and transpose that onto our next objective. We continue learning, and we’ll bounce back,” said Puel, whose side are just a point clear of second-placed Paris Saint-Germain.
“We’re not thinking at all about missing out on a trophy this season. And it’s not a case of, ‘There’s only the league now.’ There’s the league, and it’s the priority of the season. The Cups come and go, but the league is the thing that ties it all together.”
