Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has moved to reveal that the club have received a €70 million proposal for star striker Alexandre Lacazette.
It is no secret that the France international is one of Europe’s hottest commodities at the moment, but les Gones seem determined to keep hold of their prized asset.
Lyon have few more footballers who could be subject of big money offers such as Corentin Tolisso and Nabil Fekir, but it appears that one player stands head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to both interest and the transfer fee he could command.
“We want to get closer to the league leaders and to go all out in the Europa League as it could be an opportunity for Olympique Lyonnais,” Aulas told Radio Monte Carlo.
“Of course, Alexandre is indispensable, like Nabil (Fekir), like Corentin Tolisso, and like all the players for whom we have had offers.
“Right now, we have six or seven offers for our best players. It’s true that the offers for Alexandre are between €40m, from West Ham last year, and €70m right now.”
It remains to be seen whether there is any truth in the president’s comments, but the reality is that Lacazette has been on fire for quite some time.
The 25-year-old bagged no fewer than 76 goals in last 118 league appearances for les Gones, which is undoubtedly a remarkable return.
