French giants Lyon have moved to suggest that they are set to complete the signing of Mathieu Valbuena from Dynamo Moscow.
The France hotshot was heavily linked with a return to France this summer, but he all ultimately rejected talk of moving back to Marseille.
However, it appears that Lyon have managed to secure his signature, with les Gones chairman Jean-Michel Aulas confirming the deal was all but wrapped up.
“Mathieu Valbuena gave us his consent through his agent Jean-Pierre Bernes,” Aulas confessed to L’Equipe. “We have also agreed a transfer fee with Dynamo Moscow.”
It is believed that Lyon will pay around €7 million for the France international, who will in turn sign a three-year deal at Stade Gerland.
Les Gones decided to make a move on Valbuena after key midfielder Clement Grenier picked up a muscle injury in a pre-season friendly against Arsenal.
And having also kept hold of all key players this summer, Lyon might be able to mount a serious title challenge in French Ligue 1, with les Gones 4/7 to see off Lorient in their opening fixture.
