Lyon say Bastos is not for sale

Olympique Lyon have sent a clear message to all interested parties by declaring that Michel Bastos is not for sale.

The left-sided midfielder proved his growing reputation with some impressive performances at the World Cup in South Africa, with teams like Milan, Juventus and Inter expressing interest in his services.

However, the club are adamant the Brazilian stays at Gerland.

“Olympique Lyonnais wish to clarify that the Brazilian international Michel Bastos will stay with our club and therefore there’s no reason to talk about an eventual transfer, despite what some newspaper reports suggest,” read the statement.

“OL and their Coach Claude Puel are happy with his performances that contributed to the good results of the club in his first season at Lyon and the Brazilian team, which saw him play in the World Cup quarter-finals.“
