Former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is on verge of signing a deal with Ligue 1 powerhouse Olympique Lyon, French media outlet L’Equipe has reported.

The experienced 32-year-old striker has been without a club ever since he was released by Crystal Palace during summer and is now on the cusps of a new chapter in his wayfaring career with Lyon reportedly keen to offer Adebayor a chance to return to a country he began his professional career in.

Togo international is coming off from an unsuccessful spell at Selhurst Park during which he scored only one goal in 15 appearances for the south London club and a move to Ligue 1 is seen as a great chance for Adebayor to get his career back on track.

Seven-time French champions are competing in the UEFA Champions League this season and Adebayor’s experience could bring a new perspective upfront for the French side, which got their European campaign off to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb during the week.
