Lyon set to sign Miguel Lopes

Ligue 1 side Lyon are on the verge of signing Sporting Lisbon full-back Miguel Lopes, reports A Bola.

The Portuguese newspaper understands that the two sides have reached an agreement over the transfer fee, with the deal set to be closed in the coming days.

Les Gones were searching for a new right-back to replace veteran Anthony Reveillere and they seem to have finally found their man.

Miguel Lopes can play on either side of defence, but everything suggests he will be used on the right hand side at Stade Gerland.

The 26-year-old only joined Sporting Lisbon in January 2013, arriving from Porto in a swap deal taking Marat Izmailov in the opposite direction.

However, with the Lions in a precarious financial situation, they had no choice but to cash in on one of their highest earners.

Miguel Lopes is a regular in Portugal national team, and has made two appearances in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
