Lyon have officially signed Jason Denayer from Manchester City, as the Belgian defender goes in search of first team football. The fee is believed to be around €10 million with add-ons of up to €3.5 million, with Lyon attempting to wrestle back control of French football from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 23-year-old hasn’t really been given a fair chance in the setup at City, instead being sent out on loan with Celtic, Galatasaray and Sunderland. City continue to improve both defensively and throughout the rest of their squad, meaning that Denayer wouldn’t have really been given a sniff.
Over in Ligue 1 it seems more likely that he’ll be able to make some kind of a statement, especially with a team like Lyon who are attempting to make a push for the top of the table. After two games this season they find themselves in 10th, with a big game against Strasbourg to come.
