Lyon to name Puel replacement

Lyon chiefs are set to name Remi Garde as the man to replace coach Claude Puel, according to L’Equipe.

Claude Puel has yet to be sacked following a disappointing season, but that is just a matter of time now.

The former Lille boss will be officially relieved from the post when he agrees a compensation package with Lyon, which is expected to be around €3 million.

As soon as the agreement is official, Lyon will name current director of the training centre Remi Garde as the new boss.

The 45-year-old Garde has been part of the coaching staff at Lyon under Paul Le Guen and Gerard Houllier, but this is set to be the first managerial job in his career.

Lyon sporting director Bernard Lacombe has also followed Eric Gerets, Jean Fernandez and Michel Preud’homme, but he eventually opted for the talented Garde.
