According to Fabrizio Romano, Ian Maatsen is expected to leave Chelsea on a permanent transfer this summer.
Chelsea first signed the Dutch left-back for their Under-18 side from the academy at PSV Eindhoven back in 2018. Since then, he’s had loan spells with Charlton Athletic, Coventry City and Burnley, before signing a temporary deal with Borussia Dortmund ahead of this season. In all competitions, he’s so far played 17 matches for BVB and has two goals and as many assists to his name.
Maatsen still doesn’t appear to have a future at Stamford Bridge, where he’s due to return at the end of the season, and Chelsea intend to cash in on his talent. Meanwhile, at Dortmund they’re very happy with his contribution so far, particularly after he helped Edin Terzic’s side get past Atletico Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Champions League with a well-taken goal in the second leg.
Maatsen’s contract with Chelsea has two years left to run, but there’s a £35m release clause in it which Dortmund, or any other potential suitor, might exploit.

No changes as Chelsea are planning to make profit and Maatsen wants to play regularly.
