Macheda completes Cardiff switch

Sky Sports understands that Cardiff City have completed the signing of Federico Macheda from Manchester United.

The striker spent last season out on loan; first with Doncaster Rovers where he scored three goals in fifteen Championship appearances, and then at Birmingham City where his ten goals in eighteen outings helped Lee Clark’s side retain their second tier status.

Macheda, who worked with Bluebirds boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer at Old Trafford, will complete his free transfer on July 1st when his contract expires.

In total, he made thirty-six appearances in all competitions for United scoring five goals, including a famous a winner against Aston Villa on his senior debut back in April 2009 while since then, he has also had temporary spells at Sampdoria, Queens Park Rangers and Stuttgart.

He becomes the South Wales sides third new signing of the summer, following Spanish striker Javi Guerra and Austrian midfielder Guido Burgstaller.
