Macheda destined for Sampdoria loan

Manchester United starlet Federico Macheda is close to joining Serie A club Sampdoria, his agent revealed on Monday.

The 19-year-old striker looks set to return to his homeland for six months to play with Domenico di Carlo’s side, overlooking the advances of fellow English Premier League clubs West Brom and Everton in the process.

Macheda’s agent Giovanni Bia confirmed the deal was all but done, though Macheda will almost definitely return to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

“The only thing missing is the formalities,” Bia told Sky Italia . “I hope to finish everything by tonight so the player will be available for Sunday.”

“It will be evaluated with Manchester United and they will need to see if he stays in Italy for another year.”

“It is 99 percent certain he would go straight back to Manchester United.”

“I think Alex Ferguson wants him back, because he considers Macheda a major European talent.”
